The last time that Kentucky won the basketball tournament was back in the year 2012. Even though they do not win the tournament every year, they are still known to be one of the strongest teams in the NCAA. They go into the final four and sometimes, luck is not just on their side. Some say that their greatest weakness is their bad habits.
They have some bad habits that other teams know about. They use these weaknesses to their advantage. If Kentucky would be able to get rid of these bad habits, who knows, they might actually win this time around.
For several decades now, Kentucky has always been one of the handful of teams that are mentioned as perennial favorites to win that year's men's national basketball championship. Ever since head coach John Calipari took over the helm at Kentucky, the team has always been known for grooming talent to win the national championship. The reason that Kentucky does not win the championship every year is that they are never able to keep a core group of players together over say two or three years to develop a strong team.
Kentucky has been famous for having players who only play one year then make the jump to the NBA. This has certainly been the case since the NBA changed the eligibility rules for minimum age to play in the league. Another thing is that while Kentucky has a strong recruiting network, other schools have started to master the art of landing the big recruits as well. Kentucky does not win the NCAA men's basketball national championship each and every year and it is because they never keep the same core of players together for any extended period of time.
