Regardless of the meeting with China, Kim Jong Un is playing his cards right. The meeting with China just solidified his position on things and encouraged him to bargain better. It's unlikely that North Korea will ever denuclearize because the entire point of the program was to secure the leader's power and protect from pre-emptive strikes from the United States.

Not only are these his reasonings, but because China and North Korea are allies, Kim Jong Un will go to great lengths to keep that partnership alive and healthy. China is their main source of trading as well as their biggest backer against the Western World. Kim might not be his father or grandfather, but there is no doubt he is good at getting what he wants.
