When you need to travel to another country for an extended period of time, it is best to acquire a visa from your own country in order to travel there. However, they do cost money to apply for a visa. Some countries charge people more for their visas than other countries. For Americans, it costs them one hundred sixty dollars for a visa to Brazil. Another country that charges the same amount of money for their visas is Algeria.
The Republic of Congo charges two hundred dollars for the visas. Finally, the most is Nigeria which charges two hundred thirty dollars for their visas. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern in why some countries charge more than others. It is probably based on their system and how long it takes.
Luckily, American passports allow people access to over 100 countries, but there are more than 100 countries in the world and a few of which have very expensive visas. Brazil is on the top of this list—it is expensive and a bit of a pain to obtain their visa. However, it is good for 5 years. Algeria is another example of costly visas that take some leg work to acquire. Both of these country's' visas cost about the same for Americans.
Republic of Congo and Nigeria also have expensive visas, and the cost continues to rise when talking about Russia. Russia is one of the most restrictive countries to travel to and their visa will cost you around $540.
