Years ago, McDonalds was the restaurant that everyone was going to. Now, there is so much competition that McDonalds’ sales are probably suffering as a result. They can’t get enough workers to do the job because there are so many fast food restaurants around. Based on quality, the other fast food restaurants have better quality food than McDonalds. So, McDonalds has to try to provide higher quality food but still at the low prices.
Therefore, they have to lose money on certain food items since they have to pay more money for these better quality items. If they charge too much, people won’t buy them at all. McDonalds also seems to cater to kids and parents are more likely to go to a better restaurant drive-thru than McDonalds.
People are becoming more aware of how McDonald's food is made. Their food products are made with a combination of fillers, preservatives, additives, and GMO's. The public is becoming more health conscious because of documentaries and books, such as "Fast Food Nation."
Because of the vast majority of information available, people associate McDonald's with obesity. The chain has also decreased in the value of their products. Food quality and customer service are also core issues that are not being addressed. Also, there are issues concerning the leadership skills of those who run and operate the franchise.
