Vatican denounces the existence of Mary Magdalene because Vatican believe Mary Magdalene was sinful and didn't deserve to be called a saint. Pope Gregory stated that there is a possibility that Mary Magdalene was the same as Mary of Bethany.
History has it that Mary Magdalene was a sinful woman and she was possessed with evil spirits before the spirits were cast out of her. All of these sum up to the reason why she was denounced by the Vatican.
The assumption that Mary Magdalene was a woman of sin who washed Jesus’ feet attracted a fortress in the sixth century when Pope Gregory the Great stated his belief in one of his sermons that the unnamed woman was Mary Magdalene. However, Pope Gregory presumes that Mary of Bethany and Mary Magdalene was the same individual.
This so-called belief led to the disapproval and the denouncing of the existence of Mary Magdalene in the Vatican and the fact wasn’t disputed that demons were cast out of her which has made the Vatican counted her so sinful to be called a saint.
