The famous approximately dozen or so mysterious crystal skulls supposedly found in Peru were determined to be of rock crystal. Scientists as a British museum and at the Smithsonian Institute in the United States used electron microscope analyses to determine the skulls could only have been made with “modern-day carving implements—rather than the stone, bone and wooden tools that would have been used in pre-Colombian times—they concluded that the skulls were likely fakes”.
In fact, another British study traced the manufacture of most of the skulls “to an area of Germany famous for manufacturing intricate quartz and crystal designs in the late 19th century. The crystal is said to be found in Brazil or Madagascar and thus inaccessible to pre-Columbian indigenous civilizations.”
The crystal skulls of Peru are said to be hardstone carvings of human skulls that are carved in white quartz that was sometimes clear or milky in color. The crystal skulls are said to be from the pre-Columbian Mesoamerican era by most of the people who find them and always been lore that is where they come from. Scientists have not been able to defnitely prove that fact. Crystal skulls were long to have said to harbor certain mystical powers.
This was once said that the skulls were something that were revered by Native Americans but that too has not been able to be proven. Those people who are part of the New Age movement have long held crystal skulls in high esteem. Science fiction writers have always used crystal skulls for their works and have helped pushed the thought that crystal skulls harbor certain powers. One thing that can certainly be said about the crystal skulls of Peru is that they are very beautiful pieces of art.
