Was there ever a male 'tsundere' character?

Yes, in fact there are so many of them. They are not really known because the females are far more popular.Let me share some reasons why the female tsundere are more popular than their male counterparts.Most of them are really strong babes, which is really attractive to watch. It is common for men to be strong and bold, but coming from a female who's also hot is more attractive.

Girls are more attractive when they hide their feelings and make their intending lovers chase them, this general truth also applies to anime. It is just more thrilling.The entire "acting up" associated with the tsundere is more of a female thing, that's why they are more popular. But there are so many male tsundere as well.

The dictionary describes Tsunderes’ as a figurative character of an individual who isn’t friendly with others in the first instance but begin to develop sociable character over time. Most time, this character is usually linked to the female folks, and there has been recent debate over the years if there are any male Tsundere characters.
If we should go by this definition, it is almost impossible to link any male gender to Tsundere, but in the Anime world, there are lots of them. The likes of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist and Sesshomaru from InuYasha shows that Tsundere is centralized on a particular gender. Edward Elric, for instance, has this hatred for the kind of height he has while Sesshomaru despises anything relating to love. Aside from this, the two are well composed.

Edward Elric, from Fullmetal Alchemist is a male Tsundere character. Short for his age, Edward Elric is sensitive about his height, but otherwise fairly composed.

While he puts on a tough front to many of his peers, he has a soft side that he showed to his brother and a few ohers throughout the series. However, just because his tsun tsun is not as tsun tsun as other Tsundere character, Edwin Elric is often time forgotten when we are remebering male Tunsdere characters.
