The stock market had crashed quite many times in the last 100 years. Though the exact number of these crashes are not accurately known, the most notable of these crashes include the Panic of 1901, the panic of 1907, the Black monday of 1987, and the Wall Street Crash of 1929. Since 1987 alone, the stock market had crashed about 20 times in total.
The latest crash was in the year 2008 which was a result of the financial crisis of 2007 - 2008. A stock market crash is defined as a great decline in the prices of the stocks throughout the stock market due to which a great amount of paper wealth loss occurs. A lot of people end up losing great amount of money during stock market crashes and it is often followed by an influx of people selling off their assets to recover.
