Yes, pirates really did exist and they still exist today. Somalia was once considered a pirates’ nest because such poor living conditions tempted many young men to make money. But the Indian Ocean no longer tops the area where ships are likely to be attacked by pirates.

An international mapping company known as ERSI compiled a list of the top ten most dangerous waterways. The list was based on data from July 2015 to July 2016. In decreasing order, these waters are: Celebus Sea, North Yellow Sea, Arabian Sea, Java Sea, Bay of Bengal, Malacca Strait, Caribbean Sea, Singapore Strati, South China Sea, and the Gulf of Guinea.

Yes, Pirates used to be very much real. Throughout history, pirates used to roam around he sees with their ships looting and plundering whatever comes in their way. They were more like robbers and goons operate off the shore, and less like the ones that we see in movies such as Pirates of Caribbean.

Even today, pirates do roam around the seas however they are limited to certain regions in the world that include Malaysia, Somalia, Brazil, Caribbean, South China sea, Venezuela, Argentina, and a couple of other areas. However, these pirates operate on a smaller level and won’t mess with larger ships.
