Lost ships are a very intriguing subject. How could something so large be so hard to find? I guess the answer is that compared to the size of the oceans and their constantly changing currents, it should not really be that surprising. Some of the more famous lost ships in history include the USS Cyclops which disappeared without a trace over 100 years ago (in 1918) in the Bermuda triangle area.
The reason for its demise is still unknown. Another lost ship, the Baychimo, is often called the Arctic Ghost Ship because it had been spotted, without crew aboard, several time over 37 years. It was abandoned by the crew in 1931 when it got stuck in floating sheets of ice during an early winter. It was last seen in 1969.
There have been a number of shipwrecks in the past that have yet not been found in the sea. The Titanic which is quite a famous ship, was finally found in 1985 after a long search in the sea using underwater archeology techniques. Santa Maria is yet another famous ship in history that has been lost and isn’t found underwater as of yet.
This ship belonged to the famous explorer Christopher Columbus. It is said that this ship drowned due to an inexperienced cabin boy. Due to a lack of technique and training, the cabin boy ended up running the ship into a coral reef which resulted in a wreck.
