The heroes of the Ruby Bridges story are those who stood up for what is right against the torrent of hatred, racism and actual death threats that faced Ruby as the first black child to enter a whites only school. Her teacher, Mrs Henry, was the only one on the staff who would teach Ruby while white children were kept away by their racist parents. Miss Spencer supported Mrs Henry's actions.
