Whenever a species of animals becomes endangered, one method would be to help repopulate the species so that there are more of them. Sometimes, this may be easy, but other times it is difficult because it is really up to mother nature to do the trick. It took many years to get the pandas up 17% but it has happened.
The reason is because of controlling the poaches and loggers in the area. Plus, the pandas did not reproduce as fast as expected. Also, it is difficult to replicate the habitat for these wild animals. These pandas were close to becoming extinct. China is now doing more to help with the panda population and grow their panda species over time.
The white panda, also known as the giant panda, have had low population numbers for a very long time. No matter how you look at it, time does not favor this species. You see, the female panda is only in heat during the spring, for about 12-25 days. Out of those 12-25 days, she is only receptive to mating 2 during 2 of them. To further complicate things, female pandas are only fertile for about 24-36 hours out of those two days.
This isn't the only problem, though. Pandas are losing interest in mating due to lack of competition. They also often don't know how to mate because they are taken from their mother too soon, meaning they haven't seen how it works.
