Not a lot of people know how to cook a lobster perfectly because it is not a dish that people make a lot. The most obvious way to make a lobster is to boil it. It seems a little sad that lobsters are put in boiling water while still alive. First, you boil your water and add salt to it. Wait until the water is boiling.

Then place the lobster into the water. Make sure the lobster goes into the water with its head facing down into the water. Its head should go first. If the lobster weighs a pound, then leave the lobster in the pot of boiling water for fifteen minutes. Then after the fifteen minutes, remove it from the water and place it on a plate.

For two one and one and a half pound lobsters, bring eight quarts of salted water to boiling in a twenty quart or larger kettle with a lid. The size of the pot is essential because the lobsters need to fit entirely inside with the lid closed. Grab each lobster just behind the eyes and rinse under cold running water.

Plunge lobsters headfirst into the boiling water and cover kettle. Boil for fifteen minutes and adjust the heat as necessary to keep a steady boil. For larger lobsters, increase boiling time. Drain lobsters and remove any bands on the large claws. The lobsters turn bright red, and the tails curl under when they are done.
