Terrorism is a deliberate commission of an act of violence to create an emotional response through the suffering of the victims in the furtherance of a political or social agenda. Terrorist attacks are carried out against noncombatants.
Rebellion, on the other hand, is resistance to an established government or ruler. It is an organized, forceful subversion of the law of the land in an attempt to replace it with another form of government. Rebellion attacks are carried out against the ruling Government.
Rebellion is a resistance against a government. Terrorism is using violence against civilians for a political goal. In battles such as The Battle of Bunker Hill, American rebels fought British soldiers in combat. In the 2014 Peshawar massacre, Taliban fighters entered a school and killed over a hundred students between ages 8 and 18. Terrorists carry out deliberate attacks against non -combatants. Rebellion attacks are directed against soldiers.
The purpose of terrorist attacks is to frighten and instill fear and cause as many casualties as possible. Rebellions, on the other hand, can be conducted without resorting to such violent tactics. Rebellion conducts their actions mostly against armed forces, or against the armed forces of a regime; they want to change.
