The main languages spoken by the Romans were Latin, Greek and Italian. Latin and Greek were the official languages. These languages were influenced by the Roman Republic on the entire Roman Empire. Greek, and this was largely due to Alexander the Great's imposed Greek on majority of the regions and people he conquered.
Due to the influence of the Roman Republic, these languages are largely spoken and respected in Europe and in other parts of the world.

Latin, Italian, and Greek were the main languages that were spoken by the Romans. Latin was certainly spoken because that was the official language of Rome. Italy surrounds the Vatican so it only makes sense that italian was commonly spoken amongst Romans. The Greek language was also very influentual during this time period.
All of these languages were very influentual in the formation of early Christianity and they are found all throughout the Holy Bible. The Roman Empire did a very effective job in introducing them to countries all throughout Europe. The language is one that is respected all throughout the world but only natively spoken by a very few. It is also a very common foreign language that are taught in high schools and universities all throughout the world.
