It won't be either of these two leaders that work out a solution to denuclearisation. They can each, and both, escalate the dangers by bombast, bullying and threats. The quiet tactics of the South Korean president are most likely to be the oil that enables good, or at least, better sense to prevail. Meantime it is a scary situation for the world at large.
North Korea, Russia and China are as likely to cause us anxiety over the nuclear question as the US itself. The US drawing further and further from its European allies who are the most likely to step on the brakes.
I personally hope and pray that Kim Jung Un and Donald Trump can work it out and end the Korean conflict. However no one can predict the future. Trump announced, via Tweet of course, that a meeting between the two leaders would take place in Singapore in June, 2018.
North Korea then appeared to be changing its mind. In his brilliant way of speaking Trump then said, “You have to want to do it. With deals ... you have to have two parties that want to do it…Kim absolutely wanted to do it. Perhaps he doesn't want to do it." So, who knows?
