A dimension is a measurement of length in one direction. For example, a line would have one dimension. A square, which has 4 equal sides would have 2 dimensions – a length and a width, even though the measurements would be the same. A rectangle would also have 2 dimensions, similar to a square, but a rectangle’s length and width would not be equal.
.A cube has three dimensions. In the science of physics, a dimension can also mean a measurement of time or mass, in addition to length. In science fiction, and in other more complex physic theories, you may have heard of other dimensions like the 4th, 5th or 6th dimension, but answers to those dimensions should be saved for another time and place.
