Lord of the Flies is a 1954 novel written by William Golding. It is about a group of British boys stranded on an uninhabited island. The book explores how much of a disaster takes places when these teenage boys try very unsuccessfully to govern themselves. The novel has been adapted two different times for film once in 1963 and once in 1990.
In the novel when Jack and Ralph go to the mountaintop to the see the beast Jack finds that he is petrified with fear. The novel is a good example of how teenagers are , in many ways, still children and are not able to make the appropriate decision in order to do things like govern themselves.
