A data source is defined as the device or small place where data comes from. If you have every retrieved data from another computer or another device, then this probably came from a data source. There are a lot of examples that are considered to be a data source. You could get information or data from other files that someone sent to you through an email.
You could also extract information from another network that your computer is linked to. Also, you could get data from a flash drive where someone has saved information for you. If you have ever typed data into a data record, then you have inputted the data and not extracted it. Therefore, data records is not a data source component.
