Antibiotics

Oral/injectable antibiotics require a 7-day waiting period after the last dose before blood can be donated (provided the patient is symptom-free during the 72 hours prior to donation). The MMR vaccine requires a 1-month deferral before blood donation. Allergy medications (provided the donor is symptom-free at the time of donation), diet pills, cholesterol-regulating drugs, sleeping pills, aspirin, diuretics, and tranquilizers are acceptable. A flu vaccination doesnt require a deferral.
