A televised image of a starving child had a greater impact on Mr. White's perception of the extensiveness of world hunger than did a statistical chart summarizing the tremendous scope of the problem.
If you have ever looked at something and it reminded you of something so much that it brought forth a particular emotion or made you think of a situation. This may be called availability heuristic depending upon how you believed and reacted to this situation. If a televised image of a starving child has a significant impact on Mr. White’s perception of the issue of world hunger, this would be considered to be influenced by the availability heuristic.
However, the only way it would be deemed to be availability heuristic, it would have to be where other images or knowledge is given to Mr. White did not create the same reaction because this image triggered something in Mr. White.
