Baking soda is a very useful substance, with Sodium bicarbonate's chemical name, and has an IUPAC name of Sodium hydrogen carbonate. It is also referred to as bicarbonate of soda sometimes; a chemical compound with the chemical formula NaHCO3.
Basically, the pH value of baking soda is 9. The PH scale value ranges from 1 to 14, where 1 is the strongest acid value, 14 is the value for the strongest base, and value seven is considered neutral. A substance that has a neutral value of 7 is pure water. Now, since our baking soda has a pH value of 9, it considered being a weak base.
It is also important to note that the pH value of your baking soda substance can change when mixed with another substance. Sodium bicarbonate is a salt, a white crystalline solid, which appears more like a fine powder.
