Florida is especially prone to natural disasters because it is a peninsula located along the Atlantic. Florida is in a prime location for storms such as hurricanes especially. Hurricanes typically originate in the Atlantic and make their way up the coast of the United States.

Florida is the first mainland state to feel these effects. Other places also get destroyed by hurricanes but do not get the same attention as Florida. Islands in the Carribean are constanly bombarded by hurricanes as well.
