The correct answer to this question is False. Doing good to gain respect or esteem from others is a sin. It is considered pride, and pride is regarded as the deadliest of all sins. Pride receives this label because the sin of pride is thought to be the beginning of other crimes.

This type of pride is not to be confused with the specific kinds of pride, which are having pride in your work or satisfaction in your country. The wrong nature of pride deals with arrogance. It would cause you to look down on others and overall, not be the best person.

False

You should not be doing what you do for the sake of a pat on your back. This is a sin against pride.
