Sanskrit is a language that dates far back into the ancient history. It was the first language used in the religion Hinduism. It was also believed to be used in other ancient history religions and other ancient countries. Therefore, it could be considered the oldest language ever to be known but there are very limited records from ancient history. That means that there could be other languages that are not known because there’s no evidence of it.
Sometimes, symbols have been seen on cave walls that were created during the ancient history times but there’s so little of it that remaining that they cannot tell if it was a language or not. Sanskrit was used in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
It is debated concept but sanskrit is the oldest recorded language in the indian subcontinent. it still might be the oldest spoken language in the world but there is no way to prove this.
the age of a language is determined by its first appearance in contemporary writing. by that standard, sanskrit came around the 2nd millennium bce or 2000 bce. the oldest language in the world is sumerian cuneiform. stone tablets with cuneiform are nearly5000 years old putting cuneiform at 3100 bce in the historical clock. sumerian was followed by egyptian at around 2600 bce.
although sanskrit can be considered the oldest language to have a script.
