Obviously it’s impossible to predict the future so who really knows if Atheism will be a major force in coming years. But some experts believe by studying what we already know about how and why religion initially evolved and why (or why not) people chose to believe, some thoughts about the future can at least be suggested. One interesting suggestion is that in countries and regions where religion was important a century or so ago, now that strong education and social system and low inequality exists “people are less scared about what might befall them” and have less reasons to believe.
However, if people can’t escape suffering, they want to believe there is more after this life and feel they are loved, if only by an invisible God. So, they will look to find love and a more perfect after life in religion. It is unlikely therefore that religion will ever go away completely.
