Why does the violence keep happening is Sinai peninsula?

The northern part of Egypt was once a very popular place for foreign tourists to visit. Unfortunately, it has recently become a terrorism hot bed of violence. This is due to the fact that ISIS has a heavy presence in the north of the Sinai Peninsula and ISIS has a way of inspiring local extremist groups.

For example, ISIS was responsible, in 2017, for a Sufi mosque attack that killed over 300 people. Prior to that, in 2015, a bomb attack killed all 224 passengers and crew aboard Metroject Flight 9268 shortly after departure from Sinai's Sharm El Sheikh International Airport. ISIS has also targeted Coptic Christian churches and pilgrims.
