I don’t think the NFL is in danger of folding in the near future but maybe in 20 years or so. My reasoning for this is there is still a lot of kids going through the high school and college “system” and there is still a lot of education that needs to be disseminated on the dangers of head injuries before a big difference will be seen. The Sports and Fitness Industry Association reported that the number of kids playing tackle football across the county, has been steady for the last five years, after a big drop in the older age group in 2011.
Here are what their numbers looked like: Ages 6 to 12: 1 million (2011), 1.055 million (2012), 1.007 million (2013), 959,000 (2014), 965,000 (2015), 982,000 (2016). Ages 13 to 16: 1.891 million (2011), 1.532 million (2012), 1.579 million (2013), 1.631 million (2014), 1.574 million (2015), 1.562 million (2016).
