Unless the people of the world significantly change their habits, the Earth and all its inhabitants of every species will die. Every year there is a day designated as Earth Overshoot Day. It is predicted to be the day when humans have used up their allowance of natural resources that the Earth can replenish in one year.
The resources included are clean air and water, soil, carbon sequestration, etc. According to the Global Footprint Network, August 2 was Earth Overshoot Day for 2017. Of course it came earlier than 2016. What it mean theoretically is that we humans used resources from August 2 to December 31 that will not be replenished.
