Indeed, 9/11 terrorist attack is one of the most monstrous crimes and one of the worst terrorist attack ever done in history. However, I do not tend to measure terrorism on an absolute scale of the causalities faced. For me, even if a single person dies as a result of terrorism, that attack can be considered worst because each and every life is just as precious as the other.
Nevertheless if you would measure the causalities, then 9/11 was certainly the worst terrorist attack of the recent century. It happened due to a result of a hijacking of four plains by 19 Islamic militants.
