Anyone can lie about anything on a resume. They may do this in order to impress the person who is hiring or interviewing at a company. However, there are ways to check to see if someone is lying about the information they have included on their resume. One thing is to request college transcripts. Each college provides transcripts that lists the GPA that was received from the years they attended college there. Also, the transcripts list the grade for each course that the person took.

Sometimes, companies will require the applicant send their transcripts straight from the college to the company. This means that the person must request the transcript from the school. The school will not send it to the applicant, but it will be sent directly to the company.

The word "can" talks about the ability to do something. So, lying about your GPA in college on your resume is a matter of risk, and even if you have a very good ability to lie, be ready to bear the consequence. The reason is that you will not be able to get away with the lie. It is actually a bad thing to lie, and lying is not encouraged at all, especially when it comes to your career and academics.

There are a few other ways by which your employer or interviewer can get to know your GPA later. One of the simplest ways is if you are asked to provide your credentials, which might include your school details. And one major way employers use in knowing people's GPA is through your transcript.

They can easily request that from your school, and they will get to know your GPA. So, if you had lied earlier, which simply means you are at the risk of bearing whatever consequences that might be laid down by your employer. You will most likely end up losing the job.

Though you can lie about anything on your resume, it is not recommended to lie about anything. This is because things that are listed on your resume could easily be researched to be proven true or false. The same goes for your GPA.

Some jobs may trust what you post on your resume without asking for proof, but most would like proof of your GPA. If you do not provide it, if a company is concerned enough they could contact your school for your transcript. As these documents are easy to obtain, it would be best to be truthful about your GPA.
