I think Moonlight will become a classic movie and an important film for future film students to study. Not only is it beautiful and well-acted, but the themes of the movie are both current and timeless. It is about a young man struggling to find love and meaning in his life. He has to overcome many obstacles along the way including a drug addicted mother and internal struggles about his homosexuality.
The movie is also a commentary about race and the lack of opportunity in poor urban neighborhoods, which makes the movie relevant today and likely relevant in the future as well. I believe this is what makes a movie a classic.
