Yes, I believe Kyrie Irving did make the right decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to lead his own team. The longer he stayed with the Cavaliers, the longer Irving would be playing in the shadow of LeBron James. Also Irving never expected to be playing with James. In 2013, Irving signed a five-year contract extension and expected Cleveland would build their team around him.
Then, unexpectedly, LeBron James voiced his desire to go home to Cleveland and all of a sudden, things changed for Irving. Also, Irving won a championship playing with the Cavaliers and LeBron so why not try to win another with a different team and prove that he could be a star in his own right?
