In 1984, Sam Bowie was drafted by the Portland, Trailblazers in the second overall round over Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and John Stockton. In his second season with the University of Kentucky, Bowie broke his left tibia. He broke it again in his fourth season and in between, he broke his broke his left tibia in his third season.
Despite all the broken leg bones, Bowie’s subsequent pro basketball career was commendable, when he was healthy. But, he continued to have a series of leg injuries which hampered his ability to be a great player and led some to the opinionated conclusion that he was the NBA’s biggest draft bust.
