In music, there are rests besides just notes. A rest is when there is a pause in the music. The symbol for the rest is a squiggle mark. However, not all rests are the same because sometimes you must pause longer than other times. In American English there are about nine different types of rests.
They are the Longa, Double whole rest, whole rest, half rest, quarter rest, eighth rest, sixteenth rest, thirty-second rest and sixty-fourth rest. The half rest which looks like a thick dash mark includes two beats. This means that there are two short pauses that occurs at a good point when one part of the line is over. Usually, rests are included at the end of a line.
