If you are a musician, then you must be able to read notes. There are two ways to read these notes. First, you have to know what the note is and you have to know how long to play it. First, each note stands for a key or string on the instrument. They are labeled as A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.
Then the notes may look different. If there is a dot next to the note, that means it is a dotted note and the note is worth half of the value. The dot means half. A quarter note looks like a note that you would typically see which is a circle that is shaded in darkly and a stem that is straight up. There are three beats to the dotted quarter note.
