The question of power comes with factors like money, military strength and political influence. With money, Donald trump inherited lots of money from his father and to add on that as the US president gives him more advantage, while on the other side Putin was from a poor background/family thou he has accumulated a lot of money as president.
On military strength, it is known worldwide that US has the most massive military on the planet while Putin has a best weapons on Earth. In political influence, Trump has lost signifantly on the institutions for instance treating NATO as obsolete. On the other side Putin build a strong foundation on his administration and he controls everything in his government.
