What is the likelihood of North Korea selling nuclear weapons or technologies to others?

The fact that North Korea has an active nuclear powerplant is already a threat to different countries. While other countries used to have nuclear powerplants, these have been closed down. North Korea still has some nuclear weapons programs that are being rigorously researched and tested by people who are working there.

There are some reports that North Korea would start selling their nuclear weapons for certain fees, but they would only sell to countries that they have good relations with. This means that they will probably sell to China, which can provide more power for China than before. It is also possible that other countries will be interested but would need to build relations with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un.

Daniel Salisbury, a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow at the Belfer Center, Harvard University, has written a very interesting and informative article on the subject of whether North Korea would sell nuclear weapons or technologies to others. He says yes, primarily because they need the cash.

He also points out that Kim’s regime has been suspected of selling its nuclear technology in the past to countries like Pakistan, Iran and Syria. North Korea has typically denied it intends to sell or has sold its nuclear technology. However, as recently as 2017, a United Nations report purported North Korea was attempting to sell Lithium-6 metal which can be used to produce thermonuclear weapons.
