There are different North Korean issues that are being addressed by the UN one by one. It will not be safe to say that the UN will just focus on the different issues as a whole. There are some sanctions that are being presented by other countries that are also part of the UN, and it is likely that these sanctions will be given to North Korea soon.
The only reason why they are having a hard time putting the sanctions in place is they know that if they made the sanctions happen, most of the people in North Korea would not get enough aid for their daily lives. They would lose their ability to have access to food and water that all human beings need.
This is a difficult question to answer because it depends on which North Korean issue you are asking about. If you are asking about the nuclear weapons issue, the United Nations (UN) Security Council recently voted 15 to 0 in favor of resolutions supporting sanctions suggested by the United States and other countries such as Japan. However, the UN also recently expressed concerns that sanctions are harming the delivery of humanitarian aid such as food, medicines and medical equipment.
Perhaps the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said it best in recent remarks, “The situation on the Korean Peninsula is the most tense and dangerous peace and security issue in the world today.”
