The Korean War definitely made an impact on America. The war has made North and South Korea become permanently divided. There are a lot of families that were separated from each other and they weren’t able to do anything about it. The Korean War also paved the way for the Cold War wherein the different countries in the world that are considered to be powerful also started to have some issues with each other.
It made the relations of certain countries more problematic as compared to before. There were a lot of people and countries that were affected by this and this history has made an impact on the life that people are living in right now.
The Korean War has much to do with today’s conflict between the United States and North Korea and between North Korea and South Korea. Several reasons exist for this. The main reason being that the US backed South Korea during the Korean War and they helped South Korea to rebuild after the war. As a result, the South Korean economy is ranked 4th in Asia and 11th in the world.
The North Korean economy was backed by the Soviet Union and the Soviets provided rice rations to help feed the North Korean people. However, when the Soviet Union collapsed in the 1990’s, so did their support to North Korea. Another reason is that the US still has over twenty-thousand troops stationed in South Korea which is perceived by the North as threatening.
