Is North Korea exactly the same as the western media portrays it?

There are only a few journalists who are able to set foot in North Korea and they have undergone a lot of research to know what things they can and cannot do while they are in the country. The Western Media has portrayed North Korea to be a country that is run by a dictatorship with the people being required to follow their leader but who knows what truly happens inside North Koreans but the North Koreans themselves?

Some of them are able to escape going to South Korea and that is the only time when they can start to share stories of how life used to be in North Korea. There are only very few people are able to escape because those who try may be shot dead. There are still so many secrets that North Korea holds.

It’s hard to say if North Korea is exactly the same as the western media portrays it because very few journalists from the west have been allowed to visit. Even those few journalists who have visited are probably censured in what they are allowed to report. It is interesting to note that reports from western media organizations are often corroborated by defectors who risk their lives to escape the horrors of life in North Korea.
