The cold war between Russia and the United States is a result of their different views and belief as to how politics should be. The war began at the end of the Second World War in the mid-1940s and lasted until the early 1990s.
It was called the cold war because there was no large scale fighting between the two countries. The United States was a capitalist economy, and the Soviet Union had a communist economy. The United States believed the Soviets wanted to rule the world.
The United States and the Soviet Union were allies during the world war ll they fought together to defeat the Axis power. They were the two largest military power in the world.
It is true that Russia and the United States were on the same side in World War II but the two countries did not have a friendly relationship. The United States did not support communism or Russia’s cruel and authoritarian leader, Joseph Stalin.
Many Americans feared the Soviets were trying to rule the world. Because the United States refused to acknowledge the Soviet Union as a legitimate part of the international community, the Russians were angry. The Soviets blamed the United States for the tens of millions of Russian people who died because the United States was late to enter World War II.
