There may be some women who feel they have received a compliment when they are the target of a catcall. I don’t understand women who feel that way and for the rest of us, I hope these women are in the minority because it just encourages men to continue. How is having somebody whistle or yell sexually suggestive comments, such as “Nice ass” or “Look at those hooters” complimentary? I personally do not believe catcalling a woman is a compliment. I believe it is sexual harassment.
It’s not polite. It’s ignorant and disrespectful. Being the recipient of catcalling can not only be embarrassing it can also make you feel violated, uncomfortable, angry, nervous, and worse, maybe even scared and threatened.
