The first three general qualifications to become a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force are you must (1) at a minimum, have a bachelor’s degree, (2) complete a Single Scope Background Investigation, and (3) begin your pilot’s training when you are between the ages of 18 and 29. A degree in aviation is suggested but not required. In addition to that, you must have knowledge of “theory of flight, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures and mission tactics’.
And, lastly, you must complete the following three programs: (1) Officer Training School or Air Force Academy or Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, (2) Air Force Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training, and (3) additional requirements specific to your specialty.
