Drake started out acting at first on the Canadian show, Degrassi, and then moved into rapping and writing and singing music. So, his acting skills are there and proven based on his past experience from working on the show. It is hard to determine whether he will cross back over into acting since he has established himself as a rapper. Usually, once someone crosses over, they don’t go back. In this case, Drake would be crossing back over into acting which is what he began doing.
Rappers will often act in movies but they don’t usually make the cross over completely. Also, he will probably not become the next Will Smith due to his age of 31 and he would need years of work in acting to achieve that status.
