For the most part, there are no age requirements that are set by the International Olympic Committee. Most rules that are set for the Olympic are set by the International Olympic Committee. However, each country’s national Olympic committee may make their own rules regarding different issues including age requirements. To look at specific sports, basketball and many of the team sports do not have a minimum age requirement because they require the participants capable of making the team and having enough skill.
The individual sports like gymnastics and snowboarding do require their participants to be 15 or 16 years old in order to qualify to play the sport according to their own country’s requirements. Usually, there are no maximum age requirements for either the national or international committees.
