In political science, Imperialism has become a pejorative term to denote the use of power to gain political and economic control of other areas or countries. Imperialism is now used as an insult to denounce and discredit an opponent’s state policy or practice of extending power and control, especially by invading or acquiring territory.
For instance, Russia could be accused this way in its taking over a key port in Ukraine. Imperialism always involves the use of power, whether military force or a quieter method.
Imperialism is when a country by force takes over another country or territory where people reside. Usually, people within the country are attacked by the soldiers from the country who have infiltrated this country. Usually, the country is weak and can’t fight off the bigger country. One instance of this is when Great Britain seized control over India. This became popular because of Gandhi being a part of this.
The main difference between this and colonialism is that the country is not stating that this country is theirs, but it is under their control. Also, their citizens are not coming to this country to live. Only soldiers are sent there to make sure they still have control over these people.
