The Federal Reserve Bank governs the Federal Reserve System. This system is the main banking system of the federal government. It began in 1780 when Alexander Hamilton was the Secretary of Treasury and he wanted to create a central strong bank. It was opposed by those in the states who wanted a weaker federal government.
Its primary purpose is to loan the American government money for certain functions as well as keep the American government’s money safe. This bank is a private bank, but it does print money and it works on its own, but the member of the Federal Board are appointed by the US President. Therefore, the only say that the U.S. government has over the Federal Reserve Bank is when the members are appointed.
