Pilots have the option to turn off and on engines during flights. There may be times when an engine may need to be turned off. For instance, if a plane’s engine catches fire, the plane’s engine may need to be turned off so that it won’t cause any more damage than it already has done.
Sometimes, though the wrong engine may be turned off. This can cause catastrophic errors as a result. Instead, the pilot should make sure that the correct engine is turned off. If an engine needs to be turned back on, it could take as long as half an hour. So, an engine does not turn back on immediately if you realized that you turned off the wrong engine.
