This will act like the port that is placed on the router. It is in charge of giving support to all of the available routing protocols.
This type of set up still comes with its own limitations. For instance, it cannot be associated with anything VLAN. This needs to be configured properly on a port that is connected to a router. The routed VLAN will require other tools in order to work effectively.
A routed port is not associated with a particular VLAN. To create a routed port requires removal of Layer 2 port functionality with the no switchport interface configuration command.
